Gibson has produced some of the worlds finest guitars in its long and richly storied history as a maker of fine musical instruments, but the one that remains the cream of the corp and absolute pinnacle of the electric solid body guitar is the 1959 Les Paul Standard. It is prized and highly coveted by both professional players and serious collectors as the ultimate example of perfection in playability, tone, and overall beauty. The truly superior and iconic 1959 Les Paul simply has no equal. This guitar is quite simply put the holiest of Holy Grail guitars in the minds of professionals and collectors all over the world. These fine guitars known as "Bursts" have graced the stage and greatest musical recordings of the worlds foremost Guitar legends such as Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry, Slash, Peter Green, Joe Bonamassa, and that's only to name a few! This guitar has become a legend and  has attained such a value that buying or owning a real burst has become possible for a very select few. That's why Gibson has gone out of their way to try and reproduce the magic that is the Burst. From very early one off's to the earliest "Pre-Historics” thru the gems of the "good wood years" they have tried and tried again to create the absolute closest thing to the real thing. Up until this year Gibson has done no better job then in the famous and highly acclaimed Brazilian run of 2003. This by all intents and purposes is the absolute best job they have ever done or will ever do in replicating the excellence and beauty of the real thing. It's no secret that they will never use solid 1 piece Brazilian rosewood fingerboards again and nothing they can do now will be able to truly compete with that. There are some great luthiers making some great scratch builds, replicas and also performing "makeovers" on some reissue Les Pauls, but the last time (prior to this years super limited and expensive run) you could buy a real Gibson made with factory original Brazilian fretboard was in 2003. Here is your chance to own a real sweet piece of Gibson history.  The investment and resale value of real Gibson made and more importantly factory original Brazilian rosewood guitars will always supersede all others. I believe that investing in one of the last few and very rare Gibson Les Pauls with truly beautiful Brazilian rosewood boards is a modern day no brainer for fine guitar collectors or Les Paul enthusiasts and this one is all decked out ready to rock!

Originally back in the 50's, when you purchased bought a Les Paul Standard your guitar would have been factory equipped with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The reason being is that Brazilian Rosewood is silly the best rosewood in the world and has tonal and aesthetic properties unrivaled in the world of wood working. The original specs of almost every Gibson guitar back the day demanded Brazilian Rosewood. It is considered ideal for guitar making because it can be slightly denser and harder than other types of Rosewood and it is believed to provide a little extra sonic punch compared with other, softer varieties. Since 1991, Brazilian Rosewood has been listed as an endangered species & has been used very little by guitar makers due to the cost and availability of it. Gibson had some problems with exotic woods and will never use this precious commodity again.

The 2003 Gibson Custom Shop  1958 Les Paul Reissues with the serial numbers ranging from 8 3001 to 8 3256 were built with Brazilian Rosewood fingerboards. Gibson has verified these numbers as the ones having been made with Brazilian boards and they have enjoyed a substantial price bump in the marketplace. These guitars are among the most sought after guitars in the world by collectors and enthusiast of Les Paul guitars. Just to make these fine  guitars even sweeter, they were built with Eastern hard maple tops, also known for great tonal qualities and the type of maple that was used on the originals. This guitar has a perfect and dark chocolatey quarter sawn Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard & eastern hard maple top. This guitar is truly the perfect example of "GOOD WOOD".

This is a killer sounding and playing Les Paul with a meaty neck and killer tone. It has a beautiful nitro faded Heritage Cherry finish and a plain top with lots of character, but most importantly it has a confirmed factory original  monster dark Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard. While the look of it  is amazing, the thing that pops out the most about it is the warm sound of the Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The performance of this guitar is everything you'd expect from the Gibson Custom Shop, with top-shelf craftsmanship & real PAF tone. Make this rare beauty yours and add some investment grade beauty to your collection. This guitar is in near mint condition, the Brazilian Rosewood alone makes this guitar a rare & excellent find, add to that the fact that it has the original case & COA.

This guitar will put almost all others out there to shame. This Lester is  extremely resonant and perfect on the shoulders weighing in at a comfortable 8 lbs, 12 oz. The neck profile is a chunky 50’s C profile. The neck is perfectly straight and the truss rod works perfectly. The guitar was professionally set up with nice low action by one of the best luthiers in the world Mr. Jim Hamilton. (Yes the luthier that made Stevie Ray Vaughns "main" guitar as well as countless others for many celebrities such as Billy Gibbons. This guitar is a pleasure to play and is perfectly well balanced! The original Burstbucker pickups have been upgraded to LINDY FRALIN/RS GuitarWorks aged PAF's and they are a HUGE improvement. They are well balanced, warm, crisp, with plenty of bottom end. They are very responsive and can growl when pushed. The neck has rich clean tones with lots of character, and the bridge has great crunch and versatility. Overall the guitar is smooth playing with amazing tone & long lasting sustain. It also has upgraded pots, paper in oil tone caps, and all plastic parts have been upgraded as well including the knobs, input jack plate, pickup rings, & truss rod cover. (all the originals are included in the case.) It had the top re-carved to more accurate specs, & was refinished with accurate full nitro finish. (only the top was refinished) the whole guitar was aged to look 100% authentic and all work was done by the amazing and world renowned luthier Known as Build a Burst aka Burst Guitars. (Steve Hague) The finish was left unfaded underneath the pick-guard and toggle switch to look authentic and what a truly 60 year old guitar would look like. Gibson has done this once before in the 25 guitar super limited run of "Shadows of 59" they did for the great Vic DaPra. This adds to the authentic vibe and overall mojo of the guitar and looks cool with the pick-guard on or off.

* This guitar is in excellent condition, with minimal actual play wear. The frets are in fantastic shape. All the "wear" has been hand aged by one of the best luthiers in the world.
